My Baja Adventure
Car is washed and detailed, taxes are done, grass is mowed. I have some time to share some pics of “My Awesome Baja Adventure”.
Went for a hike around El Rosario – the geology is fascinating:
The beach at the end of the trail was a treat:
Next day, went exploring and hunting for fossils. Found some petrified wood
And a fairly large fossil in matrix – I think it’s a palm tree (but was considering a dinosaur of some sort (?):
Closer view of one end
On to Scammons Lagoon for some whale watching – had an unforgettable day:
Nice campsite on the bluff - watching a crooked horizon (it wasn't the beer was it)
On to – guess where - for some sight seeing
Lots of fossil shells in this area – kept me wandering for hours
Interesting tidepools too
Went to La Bocana and stayed at Bocana B&B with Blanca and Les. Had a wonderful time – hot showers and everything!! I’m still thinking about
Les’s Deluxe Baja Breakfast! Blanca gave me a tour of the town, met the neighbors, the nesting ospreys were a delight to watch – this nest had two
babies
Later, went to the lobster festival – was the last day of the season
Kareoke (sp?) is popular – the guys do like to sing!!
Went fishing around Estero Coyote
Had the beach all to myself
The canyon view at the end of the Tres Virgenes road is spectacular
Started heading norte because of the wind and cold
This was a welcome campsite discovery around Punta Prieta since the sun had already gone down
The government has built this solar powered pump at the pozo at Sta Ynez for local water supply
My last night was at Los Olivos campground in San Quintin – I always see many varieties of birds here. There were 3 nesting hummingbirds, a saw a
scarlet tanager, and a large yellow parakeet, meadowlarks; once I saw an owl; lots of others
As usual, I had a great time – this is just a few of the 525 photos I took, and just a few of the places I went. And as usual, can hardly wait to go
back.

Blanca - yeah - two beers! Joaquin's brother - the artist - got a round while we were talking. Wonderful to meet so many fun-loving guys. I'm really
looking forward to my next trip to La Bocana when I can stay longer. Your B&B is perrrrfect - great location, everything close in town,
activities, rooms with a view. Highly recommended.
Glad you sold the other house - that didn't take long.
