Just back, whales and waves. Heading back down.

We took HWY 5 down to avoid all the congestion. It was real nice.

What an awesome trip you had!
Love the tide pool and birds in flight photos...
Did Javier check you in at Nuevo Mazatlan, or was it deserted?
Thanks!

I guess it was Javier. He had a daughter or grand daughter with him. $20 a night! We didn't care. We were trying to find a place to camp for the night. We thought there would be places north of Gonzaga. Not much. Checked Bufeo and Dephines and Encantadas. Not set up for camping out there. We should have just stayed at Papa Fernandaz, but wanted a sandy beach.

Photos of Nuevo Mazatlan go way back... we started camping there in 1966, when the map called it Agua de Chale... and Luis had just named it Nuevo Mazatlan (to sound more resort-like)! He planted the trees mostly in 1969... flash floods took many out, but he kept planting more. Alcohol got the best of him, and he lost ownership by 1980... just before the new graded road was built (1982) so close to his dream camp resort... and paved about 10 years later. I last saw Luis on the streets of San Felipe in 1989...

Fun family trip, making memories for your children, that is what it's all about.

Thanks for sharing.
