The Shack - La Paz

I am just now recovering from Sunday's pig roast. I haven't eaten that much since I don't know when.

For starters I had a few nearly frozen Modelo Negras which put me in a hungry mood and I anticipated with glee the thought of all you can eat Cuban style roast pig.

What I didn't count on was the ENORMOUS amount of paella Travis had prepared as a side dish. It was fantastic! Shrimp, chicken, green chorizo with rice and veggies cooked over the mesquite grill in a clay dish the size of garbage can lid.

The pig was moist, flavorful, and never ending with fruit salsa, black beans, french bread, mint gravy, fried bannanas, and more icy cold beer. All's I can say was wow. I didn't have the strength to take a picture because I was smiling too much.

It got better when Damian Medina showed up and energetically played an acoustic set on guitar and got the crowd tapping their toes and dancing.

A very nice night.

I was going to talk about the superior mushroom-Gouda burger I had the day before but a picture is worth a thousand words.

La Paz is lucky to have The Shack and I am glad the locals are starting to go in such numbers that make it viable through the Summer.

The Shack - La Paz has a Facebook page that lists the specials but really every day they are open (Wed-Mon) is good. The remaining pig was turned into pulled-pork BBQ but that is another ten napkin story.

Peace,

Thanks, I could not have described it any better.

Travis had some very good music all week.

Saturday was the Mexican Weirdos, a DICK DALE cover band, and they were fun fun fun.

Closing the Shack each night was another a highlight of the trip.
Good conversations with an eclectic mix of people.
It was hard each night to here Travis say "You don't have to go home, you just can't stay here. "
