Casita Insurance
My wife and I have just built a small casita in Los Barriles. We want to get insurance on the building and contents. The kitchen area has a palapa
roof anr the rest of the casita and bodega are concrete block.
Have any of you nomads had claims with insurance companys in Baja? Any recomendations?

Hola cftlet,
may i suggest you sign onto and post your query on " bajaponyexpress3@gmail.com " as it is the premier east
cape website.
there was a fire in costa brava in los barriles in 2011 and one of the units that burned did have insurance. hopefully, you will get a satisfactory
response.

Try IIS insurance brokers in Cabo--- arandi Torres. 624 105 0300. Been with them for 10 yrs. Household insurance for around $120. Good luck.

I have a full blown Homeownes policy on my place in San Felipe. A friend of mine had the same policy when his place burned down a couple of years ago.
He was very happy with the response from the insurance company.
My file isn't available at this time, I can't remember the company name, but if anybody wants to know, let me know and I'll dig it up.

One must be very specific in requesting homeowners coverage. If your is a stick framed structure, and the policy doesn't specify this, it won't be
covered in case of fire.
If you have a mobile home, and the policy doesn't specify this, it won't be covered either.
That will not, however, necessarily be explained at the time of the writing of the policy.
Caveat Emptor.

Another thing they usuall dont tell you that the windows, doors, cabinents and ect. are considered personal property and are not covered unless listed
as such.
