Hotel rooms in Santa Rosalia?
I remember a spate of rumors a few months back about how it is nearly impossible to get hotel rooms in SR because the mine is supposedly back in
operation and all the rooms in town are taken by workers.
Is this true? A group of boaters is considering going over from San Carlos in mid June and wants to know if rooms are an option.

Shari, do you think it would be possible to get a taxi BACK to the marina from El Morro at, say, 5am? On a Sunday, to boot?

It seems mining activities are picking up elsewhere as well. One of the rooms at Baja Cactus in El Rosario is now rented by the month to a mining
engineer! Just passed through this week and learned that particular room is no longer available.

Looks like that's where the ore loading will be happening, I would guess.
Of course, the price of commodities has really tanked in the last week. I wonder if this might affect the mining operations.
The market is in free fall today. Oil may test below 80.00/barrel. Much fear in the market.

Yes to the taxi question. You could try Brenda at Las Casitas. The Industrial hotel is right across from the marina. Rooms are at a real premium
and a little glitch in the market is not going to affect the 3,000 workers at the mine overnight. I would make sure you have a reservation so that
you don't get over here and find everything taken.

I was through there last week and hit town around 5PM from San Diego. A real mess on the grade and then the north end of town.El Morro full, Las
Casitas full. The slog continued to Mulege for the night. Have reservations is my advice.

The hotels might be full, and the town busy with mining-related activity, but the Boleo Mining Company is in deep financial trouble at the moment.
This is their latest press release, http://www.bajamining.com/static/news/NR27_2012-05-30_Final....

Yeah, that definitely sounds like problems there, for the mine.
Thanks for that other option, Jim. Gotta local number for them?

Glad to hear the Santa Rosalia economy has picked up. Four-five years ago, it seemed the squid-processing plant was about the only thing going in
town.
There most certainly is but one side to every story: the TRUTH. Variations of it are nothing but lies.

Okay, Hook, don't know why I am doing this, you guys just come over and catch my fish.
Brenda, at Las Casitas, has added some new rooms that are smaller singles and I don't know if they are open at this point. Her number is
615-153-3023.
Terco's Pollito which is a restaurant has 7 rooms that are reasonably priced and it is right by the Gymnasium as you enter town. 615-152-0075
Hotel Industrial is right across from the old marina dock. 615-152-1857
And El Morro which would necessitate a cab. 615-152-0414

It's just a fish over and fish back, Jim. Not doing the Bulls Only tournament.
Besides, isn't the old saw that the guys from San Carlos cant fish, anyway...........?
Never knew Terco's had rooms. Definitely my favorite restaurant in SR, but I have never eaten at El Muelle and some rave about it.
