The Baja Beach Bum's Lament (video)

Hiya folks,

Well here's another video for you with shots taken around Baja. While my friend Colin and I were camping up at Agua Caliente near Santiago we had the pleasure of meeting Jeanette "Spaghetti" Grittani, a retired music teacher and folk singer from Canada. (for you folkies, the guitar she's playing was actually played by Stan Rogers) She sang us the Baja Beach Bum's Lament and it struck such a chord (pun intended) that I asked if I could record her singing it. I can't get the song out of my head. Jeanette is a really wonderful performer and a sweetheart of a person as well. If you ever get the chance to see her perform please do. She's playing in San Jose tomorrow, June 21st, at La Reserva Bar from 5 to 6 pm, across from the Bancomer, then at a bookstore, 13libros, from 6:00 - 7:00 pm. at Zaragoza St and Morelos.

I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do.

I met Jeanette about 5-6 years ago and took this video of her singing "Unchain My Heart" while we were camped near Los Barriles. The quality of the video isn't as good as yours but its a fun video to watch nevertheless.

Unchain my Heart

In the video the girl wearing sunglasses is Jeanette's daughter but I forget her name.

Wanderglobe,

If you do an animal, vaquero section, consider Deborah Liv Johnson's The Cowboys of Baja have stolen my heart.

Here is Baja Bucko singing the same song as we sat around the campfire at Mision Santa Maria de los Angeles in 2010:
