Anamar Restaurant, Primo Tapia/Cantamar (About 12 Miles South of Rosarito Beach Hotel)
The family that runs Anamar has a long history in the business. Fifteen years ago, they had a restaurant in Primo Tapia, then moved to a large
building with oceanfront patio near the K38 surfing beach.
They closed that big place and took a vacation for a while and now they have reopened in Primo Tapia in a small space (three tables seating four
inside with the kitchen sharing the interior space and a couple of tables for four outside) adjoining the llantera (tire store) and Mariscos Alegria
on the land side of the free road highway running through town.
The new place serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and the menu has English translations for all the offerings.
We were immediately served some very tasty tortilla chips with three salsas - a pico de gallo, a smooth, roasted chile de arbol and an avocado crema.
Hubby ordered the bacon-wrapped, cheese-stuffed shrimp, which were freshly prepared (we could see the cook peeling and deveining the shrimp) and they
were enormous - the shrimp arrived on the plate looking like bacon-wrapped golf balls! (Yum, bacon.)
I ordered the breaded shrimp, also freshly prepared.
Both dinners came with a tasty, yummy, very clammy and creamy clam chowder, and a green salad with wedges of avocado on top with bowls of rice and
beans and a pile of freshly made tortillas.
The stuffed shrimp dinner was $15 and the breaded shrimp dinner was $11.
It was a very, very good meal - we can't wait to return.
They have a varied menu that includes fish and shrimp prepared in several styles, beef fajitas, tacos and probably steak, but I didn't notice, because
I was in a seafood kind of mood.
Open every day, except Thursdays, from 8 am to 8 pm.
