Mariscos Y Ostiones in Rosarito Beach???
Will be visiting Rosarito Beach in a few weeks and want some suggestions for Mariscos and Oysters. Freshest and tastiest is primary and price is
secondary.

SPLASH! Has good San Quintine oysters. Don't know about the new location in south Rosarito, but they should have the same menu as the one further
south.

I don't know how adventuress you are, but for the freshest local catch, head to Popotla resturant village. The safest may be Vincent s in Rosarito..

Thanks, we have that one on our list. Was even thinking about making the drive down to the oyster farms in SQ for the day.

In Ensenada
MUELLE TRES, right on the malecón, about 100 feet to the right of the fish market.
As you come into town, turn right into the parking lot by the Lighthouse (Visitors Center), park and walk to the boardwalk.
A small place that excells in seafood........fresh oysters and clams right off the dock. Ask David (the owner) to fix you up with about 4 courses of
his choice.........you won't be sorry, and you will be back!!!!!

Thanks everyone. Popotla may be too adventurous for our friends who are not accustomed to baja. This is their first trip. Muelle Tres sounds like a
winner and will be on our list. I looked at the menu at Splash and seems to be very much like what we can get on this side of the border.

about once a week I park on the main road across from popotla and walk down to the beach and watch the pangas come in. I enjoy seeing what the days
catch is and watching them filet the fish and the locals enjoying themselves.
the local fishermen have complained about a mysterious rash and there's no doubt the water is very polluted. I'd definitely stay away from the inshore
species, but a fun stop for a cold beer.

The road out to the oyster farms from the highway is brutal washboard, but it's worth it to have them haul a basket of oysters right out of the water
for you. Unless you can eat 8 dozen on the spot (raw with lime and hot sauce or maybe grilled on a comal), the cleaning and shucking is up to you
after you bring them home (take a big cooler and ice). Two caveats though. First, I usually do that trip in the winter because I'm not a big fan of
summer oysters -- they tend to spawn and be milky. Second, the experience might strike some noobs as less than sanitary, IYKWIM.

Thanks DanO. Have you had the crabs at Cielito Lindo lately? Lots of changes I am sure since I have been there. Not sure if I have had the oysters
in July????

Nope. The last two times I've been down there they were closed.

I should add that the other thing that we want to try is a good place to sample fine tequilla. We have probably sampled close to 30 different ones
and would like to try more. Any tasting places in Rosarito? Sorry that we will miss the one this weekend in TJ but cannot get away for that as we
have family commitments.

Have You Ever Heard That Old Saying?
Hi jurel,
The one that states, "Never eat oysters in month that doesn't have an "R" in it"?
Vince's Fish Market and Restaurant in Rosarito was not serving oysters when I asked last week.
Mariscos Alegria in Primo Tapia was not serving oysters when I asked recently.
And, yesterday, Mariscos Carrizal in Rosarito was not serving oysters.
Sorry, but I guess you would rather have a good visit and no stomach upsets.
On the plus side, if you are interested, Vince's serves fresh spiny Baja lobster from the tank they have in the restaurant.
Wishing you a great time and good meals!

Thanks for the information. Yes, but I thought that it was just for muscles only. Isn't the oysters from SQ ok to eat as the water in the bay is
somewhat regulated? Vinces? I'll add it to my list. Thanks.

That "r" thing is for the east and gulf coast where the water realy warms up in the summer. on the pacific coast from Washington to S.Q. There's
colder water, hence not the nasty stuff growing in or is it on, the oysters. At the farms should be the best and cheapest place to enjoy them! IMOH

Well our friends who have a house at Quinta del Mar where we will be staying tells us that they have had zero problems at Popotla. Is there a reason
for parking on the main road and walking in?

Nope. The last two times I've been down there they were closed. | cielito lindo is open well groomed and
clean. I spoke to the manager and he tells me its been open with new owners for a year and a half. also says they still serve up the cracked crab
dinners.
popotla, I was there last week and the line of cars to get down to the beach was backed up half way to the main road, with absolutly no way to back up
or turn around. the main road is newly paved with marked parking spaces, really very nice!
