Xolo Pass Feeling right at home - Alfredo Moreno, Xolos new striker scores first goal with Tijuana

From San Diego Red

"The Argentine born and naturalized Mexican forward has played in a handful of cities. Most of his stay has been in Mexico where he played for Necaxa, Atlas, Club America and San Luis after coming out of Argentine side Boca Juniors' farm system.

Moreno now calls Tijuana home after Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles signed the 32-year-old this offseason. He made his debut at Estadio Caliente Friday night in the Xolos 2-0 exhibition win against Dorados de Sinaloa.

And it was a warm arrival for Moreno.
He scored the Xolos' winning goal in the 50th minute, giving him his first goal wearing Tijuana's red and black uniform.

Moreno sent his score via header on a deep centered pass.

"It's a nice thing," Moreno said. "That makes you happy, especially when the team wins. We look at it as a team and not as an individual effort."

It was a play Moreno might store in his memory for a while.

After all, he is looking to earn a slot as a starter come opening match June 30 against Puebla.

The goal might also help Moreno earn some respect in the locker room.

"We are getting to know each other," Moreno said earlier in the week.

The Xolos might know a bit more about him after Friday night. He appeared to mesh fluidly with fellow striker Duvier Riascos and midfielder Joe Corona.

As Moreno gets to know his teammates on the field, he is soaking in the newest change of address.

"It's like anything else," Moreno said about another move, this time from San Luis to Tijuana. "We get used to that. As players, all we can do is to try and create a harmony within the team. I'm getting to know my teammates, getting used to what is a great fan base. I've been here before as an opponent and it is a nice atmosphere when you come here."

Moreno is coming off a productive season with San Luis. He scored 12 goals in two tournaments. That caught Xolos coach Antonio Mohamed's eye.

With one week before the season opener, Mohamed said he will take a look at his options and see where Moreno fits in the lineup.

After Moreno's performance agaDorados, Mohamed might just have to use Moreno as a starter
And Moreno hopes it can be for a long time, barring another possible move."
