Trip Report
Trip pictures
June 15 – 26, 2012
1350 miles
4 nights at Campo Rene, Punta Abreojos
6 nights camping at Bahia San Francisquito
1 night at Jardines Hotel, San Quintin
Great times with old friends Ralph, Kevin, Lilly, Blanca, Les, John, Chris
Met some great new friends Nacho, Adela, Ignacio, America, Oscar, Hernan, Oscar, Syria, Italia, Jeff, Miguel, Dave, Van, Brenda, Hunter, Jeff, Karen,
Memo, John, JB, Mike, Domingo
Trip highlights:
Our tradition of having Shrimp Tacos at Tacos El Fenix in Ensenada for breakfast
Campo Rene is still pretty decent
Very friendly locals in Abreojos inviting us to meals and family get- togethers
Numerous delicious varieties and preparations of fish and seafood
Seeing Blanca and Les’ new house in La Bocana
Riding quads on the beach…. About as good as it gets
Swimming / snorkeling in the clear, warm Sea of Cortez
Caught and speared lots and lots of small and large fish
Accidentaly ended up on the long and rough road from PTSFO to Bay of LA. It is beautiful scenery, but so rough it knocks your fillings loose from your
teeth
Hotel Jardines
Restaurant Viejo San Quintin
Trip Bummers:
No surf this trip
The “resort” at Punta San Francisquito is in very sad shape after the earthquake. No showers available when we inquired about on e of the few
remaining cabins
$6 for a bag of ice, $6 for a gallon of gas at the Bahia San Francisquito and otherwise no services
My wetsuit bag fell out of my truck on a washboard $$$
All in all, another great Baja adventure with great friends and great times everywhere we went
No worries

Nice pix and sure looks like you had a great time.
Campo Rene is one of our favorite spots! I hope the co-op fixes it up a little, but not too much.

surprized with conditions as you stated that you stayed at PSFO 6 days.
a recent pirep on BPI said in spite of the wind damage that all services were up and good.

AWESOME !! Thanks... I hope to take Baja Angel out there on our way north next week. It has been almost 30 years since I camped on that beach, east of
the resort.

Loved your photos, got some good laughs out of a few of them.
I can see how the second floor urinal could come in quite useful.
Thanks for sharing, you guys know how to have fun.

Curt,
How did that bottle opener on your rack hold up? I'm sure you put it through a stress test on this trip didn't you?

There are only 2 cabanas left that I would consider sleeping in. When I inquired on June 19, she could not promise me a shower. $20 per person per
night with no shower doesnt work for me. The restaurant was serving food. I dont consider that to be all services up.
As for the services being good, you will have to visit and see the conditions for yourself.
The runway seemed to be in good condition (I'm not a pilot)
I could say a lot more but Domingo is a friend, so I will hold my tongue.
I think the pirep on BPI is really stretching it. The damage was earthquake damage, not wind damage.
This post shows the damage right after the earthquake. Some clean up has occurred, but not completely.

I sincerely hope they will be able to make the necessary improvements.
