Authorities seize over $200,000 at border
From The San Diego Union Tribune
Written by Oliver Ortega July 20, 2012
CALEXICO - "Authorities seized over $200,000 hidden inside the gas tank of a car heading into Mexico Friday morning, a U.S. Customs and Border
Protection spokeswoman said.
From The San Diego Union Tribune
"CBP officers at the Calexico West checkpoint were inspecting southbound vehicles when a detection dog drew their attention to a Nissan driven by a
29-year-old man accompanied by his wife and daughter, spokeswoman Jackie Wasiluk said.
Officers found ten packages in the car's gas tank containing about $210,000 in U.S. currency that had not been declared by the family, Wasiluk said.
The vehicle and currency were seized. The driver, a permanent resident of the United States, was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs
Enforcement agents and is expected to face criminal charges. The woman and her daughter were released."

Great dog to sniff money even with the gas smell! I need a dog like that to sniff stocks to trade! Maybe a monkey. Chango!

I seriously doubt the dog was set off by the smell of money, after all, we all cross with cash; heck, FishingRich used to say he never crossed going
south without at least 5 grand.
I suspect the same compartment would be full of drugs going north and full of money going south - the dog probably was set off by the previous trip's
contents.
I just occurred to me that maybe the dog was a female in which case all bets are off.

This IS a joke.
Not even a drop in the bucket. Meaningless -- this is PR, not news, to justify the millions spent on the ''Drug War''.
Maybe they'll use the money to better educate border officers.
OK. One guess? WHO is winning the drug war?
What would DubYa say: we're going to head them off at the pass?

"The woman and her daughter were released."
That's the part that irritates me. Why is the woman always assumed to not be complicit? Institutional paternalism at its worst. Feminists should be
outraged, though I'm quite certain they will not be.
