i'm sure the water is gone by now... south of the bridge..
Shouldn\'t one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check or Sec.8 housing?
........... I had to pass one to earn it for them!

We just crossed at 4 o'clock and there is still lots of water coming down. The road to Punta Chivato was not doable in my opinion with four wheel
drive, but I suspect we can get in there tomorrow. This was a heavy rainstorm but the dry desert sucks this stuff up pretty quickly.

We could not get into Chivato yesterday due to the wash just past the cement repaired wash (first wash) was running too much water to cross. We were
going to try it this morning but we have new rain and it is raining like crazy right now. A couple of residents report heavy washouts on the road
even before the guard shack. So it will probably be a few days before it is open.

Please clarify about this guard shack.
Your talking about on the road INTO PChiv and not on the highway right?
What can you tell us about the condiitons on Mex 1 in and around PChiv today Aug 16th.
Passable or shut down?.
It's raining cats and dogs in Loreto at this moment 11:50AM

Okay, the main highway was closed just before the bridges start North of Palo Verde. That is where Mike took the pictures. Just north of George's
repair facility.
The road into Punta Chivato is not passable at this point. The guard house is the first actual building that you come to when going in to Punta
Chivato just before entering Harvey Land.
I had friends who just got into San Bruno from the North and while they reported most vados were full of water, the road was open from Vizcaino to
Santa Rosalia.
We have had rain almost all day and suspect that we have gotten at least another 1 1/2 inches following the three from yesterday.

Just got a call from a friend who left from Loreto this morning. He is in San Ignacio and he says that Hwy 1 is in pretty good shape all the way
including the hill out of Santa Rosalia. One large boulder in the South bound lane out of Mulege.

Yeah, everything has dried up pretty well. The road to Punta Chivato is doable but one place needed 4 wheel drive to get through. There are about 8
or 9 places where you go off of the road and wind through the desert to get through. As soon as it gets a grader, it will be in good shape. It is
hard to believe the wash out areas but there was some serious water there. I talked to a bus driver and he said things are getting back to normal.
Watch for debris in the vados as cleanup will still take a little while.
