A /warn and pleasent day in Tecate.

My wife, Dee, and I traveled south to Tecate on Friday. The drive down 94 to 188 is nothing special until you get past Jamul. The country side would look great if it had some rain, but we enjoyed that part of the drive.

Arriving in Tecate, Ca. around 10:30AM we exchange some money, bought car insurance and found a long line into the boarder crossing of trucks and few cars in lane two while lane one (outside) was clear with green light so I crossed in few seconds.

We drove out on Hwy. 3 toward Ensenada and found the pottery merchants on the top of the hill just as you Nomads had described. Purchases made we then headed into town, found a parking spot and walked in the downtown area enjoy the very warm day. We had some cloud cover and a good breeze

In the town plaza or park we found a shady sport for lunch at Jardines' the service was great, attentive, but not rushed, the Tecate was very cold and served in frosted mugs. What else could I ask for, but uno mas. The food was well prepared, tasted good, and there was plenty of it. We enjoyed watching the people and cooling off in the shade of the trees.

We were going to have a drink at Diana's but my wife found the bartender (male) in the women's bathroom doing something she wouldn't mention, that killed having a margarita so we were off for more exploring.

We enjoyed the trip and the change. I liked Tecate. It was a refreshing change of pace. I believe my only error was not going to immigrations when I crossed the boarder as I just drove through. Going further south would have required the MM3 if I'm not mistaken. We'll go back there other spots we'd like to see. Muchas gracias for all the tips on food and pottery spots.

technically, you can go to ensenada without the FMM visa, but nobody checks even if you go farther until the state border with baja sur.
