I just picked up the new 28-300 Nikon zoom.
It is not fast glass, but a great travel VR lens. Essentially it is an FX version of the DX 18-200. It is what I used on the above BW photo

Big move to switch over to the "dark side". I think you will enjoy Nikkor lenses too. The 24-70 F2.8 and the 70-200 F2.8 are my two favorites. You
will, of course, still shoot your large format, right?

Thanks Ken and Cortez -- It wasn't an easy decision.... I was choosing between the 5D MIII and the 800E, both great cameras but in the end, it was not
only the full sized sensor, the pixel count, built-in flash, but the Nikon was cheaper. As I'm primarily a landscape shooter, the 800 fit my needs
better. I would have had to buy new glass with the Canon anyways, so that was a wash in the decision.
I will continue to shoot my 4x5 until Fuji pulls the plug on manufacturing film. That could be anytime..... But I'm liking the idea of stitching
photos together with the Nikon in Photoshop or Lightroom to "simulate" large format quality. There is no two ways about it, with a SLR, you can be WAY
more productive.
Anyway, I'm stoked.

RIP Mr. and Mrs. Rowell. This month's Outdoor Photographer did an anniversary of their untimely death this latest issue. Ten years back, if I

LOVE that Black and White---really stunning, love your quote about figuring things out --- and while I love them all, my favorite Kurt books, I think
were Piano Player and Galapagos.
