Hotel in Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point)

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have any suggestions for a small, afforable hotel/motel in Puerto Penasco? I found Posada La Roca which looks good with 20 rooms and owned by local Mexican family. Any other suggestions would be appreaciated.

Have you stayed in Puerto Peņasco before, Nookster?

The lesser priced hotels are very near the railroad tracks. The trains have no mercy on sleeping patrons nearby. There are normally 2-3 trains that criss-cross the area through the night hours.

capt. mike,
When you google you get all the generic hotels that are on every travel site. For instance, I called Posada La Roca today. A small hotel where your reservation is confirmed by them writing your name in a book. That is your confirmation. They don't take credit cards, so you pay in cash and all they want is for me to call early the morning I'm coming and let them know my arrival time. The rocky point motorcycle rally that weekend is a busy time for all hotels. I thought to myself, man, this is great, no internet confirmation just show with cash and give a courtesy call before coming.:P Thats what I love about Mexico. Those small off the tourist map type places with friendly people running them.

Udo,
Thanks for the info Brother, I appreciate it.

BajaBlanca,

You place is exactly what I was looking for. A beautiful place with a reasonable price and I'm sure, full of friendly people like you. Now that I'm recently semi-retired I'll be down and back a lot more and I'll make sure that I call for availability in the next few months. Staying in big hotels is great for some people but now that I'm not on a time schedule there is no better experience than staying where folks will actually remember you when you come back. Not only will you make acquaintances but new friends also. :)
