San Felipe Shrimp Festival

Hola....Thinking of heading that way for the 11/3 shrimp fest.....We would get there a couple days ahead.....Where to camp? Truck with Lance....Hook ups not necessary or need really as we're self contained.........If you've been to the fest...please let us know your experience and where we might stay......Much obliged.....Rie

We are huge fans of Pete's Camp. Pete's is north of town and is on the beach. There is great food, booze and showers and bathrooms. I am not sure about costs to camp, but I am sure there are folks on here that can probably give some of that info.

I will be down that weekend, I will keep my eyes open for a Lance setup.

Not sure how bad the road will be on the way down, but a few thoughts before you come.

1. We very rarely cross at Calexico west as we are coming from AZ. However, this summer Calexico west was bad. If there is still construction going on, I would drive the extra 6 or 7 miles east to cross south.

2. The road from La Ventana South is pretty messed up. Keep an eye on your speed. July 4th iI was pushing a bit hard to get around a Semi and hit a bad dip and had a sidewall blow out.

I will look for you as we usually stop down for dinner one night while we are in San Felipe. However, we have a large group that weekend and I know we will be downtown for the Festival.

Good choice. Hot showers at $2.00
Open air bar
9 miles north of town

South San Felipe offers a much more relaxed campsites. (who here has list of them?).
Downtown sites I do not like.

If you cannot find a spot....U2 me and I'll give you directions to one of our vacant lots that you are welcomed to use ....if you are self contained.
Those are 7-9 miles north of town. No charge :-)

Lee and Linda operate the Blowing Smoke Restaurant http://www.blowinsmokebbq.net which is about 8 miles north of town. Tell my friends there that Deno sent you. Great ribs and the owners are a barrel of laughs.

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

will you have a toad with you, so you can drive downtown to
the shrimp festival, if you plan on driving your big rig downtown, parking could be a problem

Pete's camp is not walking distance,,, but i really like Petes very nice camp

Festival del Camarone is the beginning of my winter in Baja. I always make my plans to get there about a week before the festival, so I can get all my stuff put together and then have plenty of time to party.(not just the Shrimp Fest) All my neighbors also all arrive around the same time.:yes::yes:Si Si Si
