Scorpions
Had quit a night last night. After seeing the first on I got the black light out and found 3 other in the house. I tried to get a decent pic of them
with the new Nikon P510 but it just wont do close ups. Went to the D60 with the short lens and here's what I got.

Why do you let them get inside the house with you Russ? LOL YIKES! Shake your shoes and clothes before putting them on! Better check the bed too!
I have seen in the back country of Baja where each leg of the bed frame was in a pan of water. Only doesn't help if they drop down on the bed from the
ceiling!
Great photos... maybe invite Andrew Zimmern over to snack on them?

Scorpion taxonomy is notoriously tricky, but I'm going with Hadrurus Arizon-something. The brown backed one, not the black kind. They have a 'honey
bee' sting rating. I think the little one is harmless too. If were Centruroides excilicauda (a notably longer and skinnier tail) but about that
smaller size, THEY have fire in the tail.
They eat insects, insects flourish when there is water. Soon the mama scorps are gonna look like this!!!

spent last night at ricardos rice and beans motel in san ignacio...picked up my shorts this morning, shook em, and 4 big black crickets fell out on
the floor...sure glad i'm in the habit of shaking my clothes; they probably would have provoked a "heart hiccup".

they seem to sneak inside .... I always tell folks to keep the sliding screen doors closed AT ALL TIMES. In the 7 years we have been here I have
only seen 3 scorpions inside - but it was 3 too many.
Ouside is another story - lift any rock and voila.

Last night the big one was 4". I tried to get a pic of it lit up by the black light but the camera was confused by the light. I did get two shot tho.
the color isn't right. They really light up a soft florescent green.

Funny the "neighbors" one get's, depending on location ... but, looking at THAT sunrise, seems OK to share IMHO
Really miss that .. and the sunsets and the _________

Just found two of these guys in our "air tight" San Felipe house. Good advice from several BN's here........check your shoes and........add butter
after grilling
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

I don't know how the little bastards get in the house during the summer shut down! The house is pretty "air tight" as Mcfez noted on his. But normally
we'll find one or two dead ones on the floor along with the customary dead c-ckroaches on fall open.
