Bancomer cash exchange: Expensive!
So I went to change $1000 Us to pesos.
The internet had the peso at just over 13 per dollar.
The bulletin board in the bank listed 12.7 for them to buy $.
I figured, what the heck, and stood around for 15 minutes while the girl did arcane things behind the counter.
Finally, she passed me a slip to sign, and the rate listed was 12.49!
It cost me 500 pesos to change $1000.
Anybody know of a better place between Los Barriles and Cabo to change money next time?

I always use ATM's to get pesos.
I simply use my ATM card from my bank in the USA.
Bancomers ATM's charge a higher fee than other Mexican banks.
A couple of days ago in Loreto, with the fees, I received 13.14 pesos to the $. A week before that it was 12.95.
Why wait in lines at a bank and get lower rates?

Sorry, but I don't know where to go with cash other than the banks or money changer.

"Higher" is putting it mildly. They charge 66 Ps per transaction, regardless of the amount withdrawn.
I saw that on the Bancomer screen just the other day and I cancelled the transaction. Stepped over to an HSBC ATM and the fee was 22 Ps.
