With that rig I think I would head south of Yuma and cross at San Luis Rio Colarado. The toll road heading west from there is great including the grade going up to Rumorosa and then get off at Tecate and head south to Ensenada.
If they decide to go via I8 to Tecate don't get off until Buckman Springs Rd (there's a rest stop there) and they will bypass a lot of narrow windey road they would encounter if they got off sooner.

TJ has to be the easiest . The new crossing is huge and wide. The road to the toll road is well signed. No traffic lights or stop signs. One big slow hill, that`s about it, no problem!!!
Oh yeah, the 8 and 805 (to TJ) aren`t so bad either, except thru El Cajon!!

Toll road

The basic toll at each toll booth (there are 3) for any 2 axle vehicle from TJ to Ensenada is 30 pesos. if you have a dualie, they charge you a higher rate because of the dual wheels......if you tow a trailer, they charge you extra for the extra axles.

If you are in a two axle vehicle and travel the toll road from TJ to Ensenada, the toll is 90 pesos one way, 180 round trip. If you use Corridor (Blvd) 2000 the toll is 55 pesos one way, 85 round trip ..........save some pesos and buy Pacifico's
