Fuel tank
Any problem with taking a 100 gallon fuel tank in the back of my truck? We are heading down to San Felipe this morning.

That makes sense. It'll be cheaper to fill that tank in the Baja than to fill it at home. Just wait until you're well south of the border though
before fueling it up. Pemex is cheaper miles south of the border than it is right at the border.

If you're diesel you can't get ULSD south of El Rosario. I have several friends that have tanks mounted in back of their trucks and never had a
problem at the border. But I don't think they've been questioned either.

It has been reported here many times, and by me too... NO FULL GAS CANS south into Mexico.... only what is in the tanks of your vehicle. I had an
inspector check my empty red can then sniffed the contents of my blue water can (to insure it wasn't gasoline)! 4Baja's group were turned back and
they had to get rid of all the gas in their cans at San Ysidro...
Pemex gas is great (better than what we have in Calif.) as it is not contaminated with ethanol so you get better mileage!

Well, they have it at L.A. Bay... all of Baja Norte where diesel is sold is ULSD... Also, the rule might be for just gasoline and not diesel oil?

There is a big diff between a 100gal. tank in the back of a truck than a 5 gal tank..so what would they do ? make you empty it,,,charge you a tax ??

sorry for aasking but why would someone need 100 gallons of extra fuel in this day and age...
100x 7.3#= 730 pounds
40 gallons in the regular tank = 292 pounds
total over 1000 pounds of fuel
i guess its a one ton 
not much extra weight for heavy passengers

Not that much cheaper now.
The December price for magna is 10.5 pesos/ liter more or less and at todays exchange rate of 12.7 pesos/$US that works out to $3.13 /gal Vs $3.33 at
ARCO stations in San Diego. Filling a 100 gal tank will save you 20 bucks. The old days of $1 gal cheaper are gone.

Thanks for the info, I guess!!!!!!!!!. I took the tank out of the back of the pickup before we left on the 24th.Drove to the border,just got waived in
did not even look when I drove by. Just wanted the tank so I did not have to find a place to fill up. I use a card lock system.
Anyway went to San Felipe and looked at some houses in some Campos. Saw some that were pretty nice and in our price range and some way out of our
range. Some were real close to the water, like the front of the house in the water. The water had washed the beach out from under the house and it
fell off in the surf. Those were pretty cheap,but a lot of work to repair.

No, I am a well drilling and pump contractor. I have been to Los Barriles, beautiful place. If it was not so far from Northern California, that would
be where we would be looking for a house.
