PEMEX & bus service to Vizciano coming to Bahia Asuncion!

It may not look like much to you but this construction will change life as we know it in Asuncion. An enterprising local from Bahia Tortugas is building a Pemex station here just at the entrance to town.

An old family has operated the existing gas station where gas is pretty expensive, the pump doesnt open till late morning, is closed for siesta, has long lines and often runs out of petrol...old style baja! I have mixed feelings about this....while it will be great to have cheaper gas and more reliable service...
it makes me sad that this new Pemex will most likely put Hilario out of business. I will miss the long chats with Hilario about the weather and town news...the times they are a changing.

And another great service to begin in this new year is bus service to Vizcaino. This bus will run Tuesday. thursday, Saturday & Sunday and cost 175 pesos one way leaving Asuncion at 7 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon! You can get the bus here at the Vizcaino bus terminal at 10:30 in the morning and 8:00 in the evening to correspond with the Aguilar buses coming in to Vizcaino...awesome news!!! AND our amigo Toma of Loncheria Mari's son will be the driver. Bajapack will also deliver to here now...wooo hoooo!

Here are a couple other new building in the same neighbourhood at the entrance to town...this real fancy structure is owned by the guy who run the big autoparts store next to the bank in Vizcaino.

the other upscale building on the left will be a new fancy restaurant/bar...that would be nice eh! I hope the food is good!

Asuncion seems to have come a long way in a short time. I hope it does not change the small town friendliness of the area.
By the way how's the road? Any more improvements?

Definitely good news/bad news. Everyone will enjoy cheaper gas, but I hate to see both of the other gasoline suppliers put out of business.

Maybe an ATM will follow.

There is also now a shuttle service to Vizcaino and GN. Brand new Toyota van! I think the price is $175 pesos. I'll post a picture later.

Any more information about the van would be greatly appreciated --- times etc., and $175 pesos is a very good deal.

A couple of years ago they tried it in Abreojos/La Bocana. It died after a while do to the lack of customers. If a trip to Vizcaino was required, they preferred to drive. Maybe a bigger town like Asuncion will fare better.

it's been tried here too before and like you said...not enough business to make it worthwhile...apparently Aguila...the parent company is going to do a test drive for a month to see....on the other days of the week, the hospital takes it's patients to Vizcaino so there is another customer flow coming from that...so we'll see. I sure hope they succeed.
