I like the drive between la paz and the east cape for the combo of mtn and desert flora.

I love the bay of concepcion - requeson is gorgeous.

the eastcape area (los barriles -buena vista and espthe drivedown to cabo pulmo) really takes the cake for me in terms of sheer stunning beach beauty.

Les likes the drive down to ensenada via the toll road and he likes the rocky part of the road near Catavina.

Punta Abreojos is also such a gorgeous bay. The drive along the malecon is really spectacular.

Wooo and I can't be the only ones who comment when we drive by : "can you imagine waves breaking off all those little points? It'd be the most perfect place on earth." sigh...

I was curious how many different stretches might be mentioned multiple times... not that most are a great surprise. Also on my "list" would be:

- El Mirador to San Miguel along the Tijuana-Ensenada toll road.
- Cataviña area.
- Conception Bay.
- At the top of the hill dropping into BOLA.
- Los Barriles.
- El Camino Rural Costero, especially around Cabo Pulmo and Los Frailes.
- Hwy 1 to Agua Verde along the SOC.

As well:
- Highway along the mountain ridge south of El Rosario - I always enjoy that view.
- Hwy 1 south, coming around the corner to see the palm trees of San Ignacio.
- Salt flats (when easily passable) south of Laguna San Ignacio.
- Road from Hwy 1 to Misión San Javier.
- Road from Misión San Javier to Misión San José de Comondú, and dropping down into San José de Comondú - the view from up above.
- Hwy southwest from La Paz to Las Ventanas, coming over the rise at the top of the hill to view all ahead/below.

And the road I was driving that made me think to ask the question in the first place?:
- The paved highway from La Paz to Playa Balandra & Playa Tecolote.

Thank you for sharing your own favorites.

These rocks shot so beautifully by Tijereta driving south to north is one of the great landmarks of baja. A visual feast.

Other unmentioned great stretches of highway:

1. The first view of the Cortez as you descend the highway towards Santa Rosalia.

2. The view towards Isla Carmen from the highway just over Juncalito.

3. There's also this marvelous view of the east slope of Tres Virgenes from the top of the highway as you are about to descend into Santa Rosalia. The magic hour is just before sunset.

But, I agree, nothing surpasses the view from the rise before you drop into BOLA. That's a 10 in my book.
