Out Numbered at the feeder
Mostly there is one owner at this feeder and he does a good job of defending his feeder. This morning I brought in the other empty feeder that was
serving as the community feeder and the others overwhelmed the poor guy. It is funnier than heck to see the male try to fight off the horde.

That is the largest number of hummers I have ever seen at a feeder!

Wonderful pictures! We have hummingbird wars at our feeder, so we bought another and placed it a bit further away. Now the Costas guard one while the
Xantus
guards the other!

Had that happen here in San Diego during migration period for hummers. Beautiful shots you have there!!!

We have 5 feeders going here in Nopolo on the golfcourse, with at least a dozen or so hovering around each one.
Dozens more sitting in the fruit trees waiting their turn.
In the late 80' we had but one feeder while in Tripui. Installed a 4 ft 1/4" dowel in one of the palmsupports and had sometimes 20 to 30 birds sitting
sideby side waiting for an opening at the feeder.

It is migration time for hummers down there, for sure! It's a wonderful time to watch them attack your feeders!!!!

We have seen a few golden ones again this year. 3 to 4 years ago we used to have many, but didn't see any the last few years. Anybody has a name for
them??

we put up a hummingbird feeder years ago and got a bunch of wasps hanging out as well ... how do you guys deal with this ?

We just leave them alone. Birds seem to have no trouble dealing with them. They're not aggressive.
When we get too many(usually bees) I give it a shot of bugspray, and they will disappear shortly.
