I would meet with Antonio and let him see you are an okay guy before you do any 'gringo tricks' like offer him a bribe. After you are told there are
no rooms, make some eye contact and ask again... Did you try calling/ leaving a message to reserve on the phone numbers provided?

I understand what your saying, but the truth is even when you make reservations, you can be turned away, I have heard that this goes on alot at
Alflys, I am sure you know that
and I have experienced this also in MX, its not uncommon at all to lose your room

Yes indeed... but then is the $60 room instantly an $80 room, or is the $20 bill a deposit?
Having known Antonio for over a dozen years, (and not real well that he remembers me, I don't think), I would try the 'show him your're not a jerk'
and just a humble vacationer approach, before flashing dinero. Just the same as when you are pulled over in Tijuana... flashing bribe money is the
last resort if you didn't do anything wrong. Antonio is a real nice person once he knows you.
Baja Angel and I pulled up and walked into Alfonsina's on New Year's Day (2005)... her first time there, and over 2 years since I was last there...
Antonio treated us to Margaritas, on the house... We were just passing through, not staying or eating there. Happy New Year, Gonzaga Bay style!

I agreed with you, no debate intended... I just wanted the newbie to try the non-bribing approach first... Thank you for your suggestions!
