How to add pictures using MOZILLA FIREFOX

This is the first of several "how to upload pictures" that I will be doing. This is for those of you that uses the FIREFOX browser and
PHOTOBUCKET. Just following the pictures and you can't go wrong. First is to add on the photobucket-uploader. Use the link below for that.

U2 me if you require assistance.

Other uploading how to's will be here in a few days....made easy.

Now just copy what the pictures below do :-)

mcfez, thanks for your post. I'm sure it will be helpful.

Photobucket shot themseles in the foot for sure., and in doing so, did the same for their subscribers.

I decided not to U2U personally, as my question concerns many other Photobucket users who will hopefully benefit by reading this thread.

I have created many albums on Photobucket containing thousands of photos.

My dilemna is not with uploading...but searching for a particular photo in my account.

I already have plenty of experience loading photos onto the Photobucket site and posting them on forums, etc...so my problem question is slightly different as stated below:

My question is about using the Photobucket SEARCH function.

Perhaps you..or anyone.. can answer my question about how to search within one's own private albums for a single particular photo? It was so easy with the old Photobucket format, and makes me wonder why it would be changed or omitted?? I know about creating albums, sub-albums, and tagging..all of which are meaningless when trying to search out one's own particular photo by title or description. (Or am I just missing something?)

Along with many other baffled users, I've had zero luck trying this search with the new ...and improved?...Photobucket.

Option: Failing the ability to search out one certain photo, I will try to find another Internet photo host and transfer all my photos en masse. Hopefully that will not be a chore. If that becomes the case, do you... or does any reader... have a recommendation for a different host with a simpler 'search' function?

Thanks for any information.

Roger,

I couldn't find a way to restrict the search to just your albums. Perhaps a workaround is to change your tags to be more restrictive. Instead of 'concepcion sunrise' change it to 'roger#123 concepcion sunrise'.

Just a thought.

Something better will come along. I'm sure.

Yes, Igor, a good and helpful thought. And indeed, I had thought of labeling each new photo with a descriptive tag, but then I'd end up with thousands of tags that would still have to be scanned one by one to find that particular one I wanted. For example with the old Photobucket if I wanted to use a red-clouded sunrise photo that I had titled 'red clouds' in it I would simply search 'sunrise' or 'red' or 'clouds' and up would pop a selection from my private albums, each with one of those titles or descriptions. From there, it was easy to pick the one for which I was looking.

With the new Photobucket search, if you type in 'clouds', you will get 115,920 results.

It makes my hair hurt...

good eye Ateo...very observant indeed...McFez...you crack me up.

Roger...I am very disappointed with the new photobucket too...and now I cant seem to get the old one back again. You cant organize the photos in order with the new format nor see them on slide show mode...they should have got all their P's & Q's in order before launching the new format...dang.

shari...right on. One of the FAQ's Photobucket had to say about its new format was...You cannot get the old one back, it's done dead gone, gone, gone...

I say we mob together, get some torches, and storm the gates! (I've had experience with that from a few neighbors at Coyote)

While preparing for my next "101".......I came across this:

".......Compatibility:
Photobucket Uploader is compatible with Win2000/XP/Vista and all versions of Firefox from 1.5-3.0."

Perhaps someone here with Win2000/XP/Vista can give us a report if it works or not.

Good eyes Ateo :-)

I create albums for various sorts of pictures; Baja 204 - Disneyland 2007 - Fatal Attraction for DavidK 2004 - sunsets.......so on. Helps me find what I am looking for. The PB search engine is garbage.

The new PB is garbage too......just like that new Yahoo homepage :-(

It's pretty frustrating that when you upload a new photo it doesn't appear in the chronological order that you uploaded it, instead it inserts it in your album by the date info in the photo file, so when you upload older photos you have to go looking all over for them. Does anyone use a photo hosting site that's not so retarded?

monoloco, I also use Image Shack online hosting. It's not perfect, but much better than the new Photobucket.

I used ImageShack for quite a while. Have no idea why I switched to Photobucket. Maybe easier to use?
Was always satisfied with IS, so, maybe time to switch back:?:

Flicker was taken over by Yahoo some time ago. My understanding is this.....they may be dumped by yahoo. That site could end up dying......

I used Flicker for a while......it was just too much BS

Well, I'm doing some research on photo hosting sites and this might be of interest to those looking for an alternative to the Photobucket fiasco.

Like the San Andreas fault, I don't need any extra stress.

It sounds like we are in trouble, that site recommends Photobucket as the best free hosting site.:?:

Yes, one option of Photobucket is free. And you get what you pay for.

Most of those sites seem to be quite reasonable by the year.

Free no, but free is seldom free...but here's a selection of free hosting sites reputed to be the best. (so they say, anyway..)

Look up Smugmug, at $29 per year it's almost free.

They have a free trial, give it a test run.

I am very happy with it.

I've enjoyed Picassa. It's free unless you want more storage. I pay 5 bucks a year.

Thank God, the new Photobucket has returned the Upload Options feature! Customize Upload Options

It's right on the page, above right of the 'Drag and Drop white box, that you see when you click Upload (at the top).
