Loreto: Casa de la Abuela

We have been to this store a number of times and I seem to always be drawn back ... interesting crafts. If you look out from the Mission Church, you will see it to your right. Here you are, CASA DE LA ABUELA without further ado:

Don't know how well you will be able to read the tablet, but it says that the original house was built by a Jesuit Padre named Bravo from 1740-1744. He was much criticized for the size of the house. Walls are 3 feet thick and 10 feet high. It was housing for priests, captains and 14 governors til the seat of gvt changed to La Paz. The house was destroyed in the terrible earthquake of the 1870's. Someone rebuilt the house and it was eventually sold. Tablet says that some residents still occupy the mansion.

These are made of straw and I had not seen these before:

This fish has certainly seen better days!

I love boxes and this store does not disappoint:

Hope you enjoyed this neat store. There are more things but hubbie was in a hurry to move on.
