La Ventana at El Mirador

Here's one from yesterday:

It was kind of hazy. DENNIS, we could almost see your house from here. :). Joking, not stalking you. :)

The view from up there is spectacular. Did they ever clean up all the cars that people would shove off the side before reporting them stolen to their insurance company? There used to be a couple dozen at the bottom of the hill.

I saw 3 rusted wrecks at the bottom and a ton of trash.

I suppose people are cutting them up for scrap. It's a long way down there so I don't know how they're getting anything up the hill.

Is there still a bar there?

Last I looked, which was a long time ago, it was filthy.

That whole complex was built and operated by the state when there were tourists coming down. The bar/restaurant was a flop from the git-go. Just too isolated to develop a dining trade.
Beer was cold and the view is priceless.

It was abandoned except for a guy who cleaned the bathrooms. He was blasting music.

The parking lot was closed. They made you park on the exit and on ramp lanes to the toll road. Someone was selling candy. Not sure why the parking lot was closed as it appeared safe and in working order.

I"ll tell you why the parking lot is closed, another one of those famous land disputes in the Aztlan kingdom.
