August trip to BCS
OK, I know it's early, but I believe in the 6 (or 7) P's. I'll be leaving from Poway on Friday morning, August 9th and driving as far as the La
Mision Santa Maria Hotel near the Los Pinos Ranch south of San Quintin. I plan on getting there early enough to enjoy the happy hour at the Cielito
Lindo (starts at 4 PM). I will also be meeting the group of fly-ins for the Flying Sams clinic at the ranch (which will be held the following day).
Depending on how much time I will be needed at the clinic (other volunteers are always welcomed and encouraged), I can continue my drive southward to
??? (Catavina, LA Bay cutoff, GN), or spend another night there at Los Pinos. Then for me it's on to Bahia Asuncion to spend a day or two to retrieve
an outboard off of my boat. I will then head to La Paz for 3 to 5 days to have my outboard rebuilt and to work at organizing our main lab for the
upcoming Rotarian clinic in the fall. I will most likely be going by myself, so any interested parties can contact me via U2U to set up a caravan or,
if your schedule is flexible enough, ride along with me (expense for fuel split 50/50). Thanks in advance, Paul Boe

Won't be there but have fun. Glad your finding energy. Good show!

San Quintin to Bahia Asuncion is an easy 1 day drive unless you are in a mtorhome or towing or don't leave until noon.

Sure Shari, Anytime for the kids, but they'll have to be a little flexible on the drive time from Ensenada to BA as I don't know how long I'll be
needed at the clinic at Los Pinos. Maybe Sirena and Izaak can volunteer. Since she's fluent in both Spanish and English she could help when
translation is needed, and the way Izzak was jabberin the last time I saw him - he can supervise!!!

Our Fiestas Tradicionales always fall around Aug.15th and last for 4-5 days...whew...a party marathon! It seems they can never decide on the actual
dates until a month before...it depends on what day the 15th falls on whether they are a few days before or after that date. Since the 15th is on a
Thursday I imagine the Fiestas will begin on Aug.14th or 15th and run till the 18th...the last dance of the Fiestas lasts till after sunrise. There
are lots of fun events...rodeo, horse races, car & moto races, beach sports, a midway, food, live music every day and night for dances, fishing
tournament etc...fun for the whole family.
The surf tournament is usually the Sat/Sun before the Fiestas so will probably be Aug.10-11 but has yet to be confirmed.

Can you tell me how far....
...miles and hours, from Guerrero Negro to Bahia Asuncion? Driving a full-size van, not towing.
Thanks!

Hola Neil, After you make the turnoff at Vizcaino, the first 11 miles (or so) are pretty good, the next 26 miles (or so) have potholes, some big
enough to need there own zip code, the last 9 miles (or so) is new pavement. The turnoff to Bahia Asuncion is all good pavement, but be aware of a
couple of sharp curves along this leg of the trip (about 24 miles - or so). Time from GN to Vizcaino: 45 mins+/-, from Vizcaino to the BA turnoff: 75
mins+/-, from the turnoff to BA about 35mins+/-. Happy Trails, Paul
