Update Punta Chivato Bulls Only Dorado Tournament
Hola amigos!
Conditions are looking good and improving every day for the fishing tournament! Water is in the low 80’s and the sargasso is forming homes for the
flying fish which means that the dorado can eat to their hearts content. Right now, fishermen are catching the youngsters and we’re sure Mom and Dad
are on their way! Can’t leave those kids unsupervised!
This is the first big dollar tournament in Punta Chivato and people are talking about what they will do with that prize money!
In addition to the generous gifts from our sponsors, again Rick and Sue Anderson have stepped up to offer a two night stay at the fabulous Casa
Tropicana Beachfront Hotel in San Clemente, Ca. This comes complete with a dinner at one of the towns well known restaurants, complimentary wine and
a gift basket. This donation is worth $750.00! This generous gift has been a valued donation for the last several years and previous winners have
loved it!
We also have 2 paintings from a local artist that you would be proud to have in your home. Of course there will be lots of fishing items, and gifts
from local merchants. Our raffle is a big fund raiser and the donations are always terrific. Come on Friday to the Captain’s dinner at 6:00 p.m. at
the Community Center, to register for EVERYTHING and check out what we have to offer!

Our busy schedule for this 3 day tournament includes:
Friday, June 21st, Captain’s dinner, 6 p.m. at the Community Center, Calcutta Auction, looking at the raffle prizes and buying those lucky tickets and
of course there will be a no host bar and FREE visiting with your friends, neighbors and guests!
Saturday, June 22nd at 8:00 a.m. is the start of the fishing day! Good luck to all and lines up at 3:00 p.m. The weighmaster will be on hand to
check in your fish and make sure all boats are accounted for. No whale sharks! Be careful!
Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m. is a Baja Style Hawaiian Luau at the Hotel Hacienda in Punta Chivato. A no host bar will be provided. This is a
special event and part of our fund-raising weekend! Please come and be a part of this beautiful dinner event. $25.00 per adult, $15.00 under age 8.
Sunday, June 23rd, at the Hotel Hacienda, Los Chibatos restaurant will host an “all you can eat” brunch from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Delicious!
$15.00 per adult, $10.00 under age 8.
Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Mark and Monica Fodor will host Kids Day activities on the beach (exact location to be announced at the Captain’s
dinner!) with lots of prizes and awards. This is always a big hit for ALL ages!
Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Center, is the beginning of our Awards dinner, with our anglers anticipating the big cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and
3rd place winners! It’s also the time to hand out raffle prizes to the lucky ticket holders and present the Calcutta winners with THEIR money. Seems
like there will be a lot of happy people! Sr. Gecko’s will be frying up fresh fish tacos with all the trimmings.
Lots of volunteer hours go into planning this event. Our charities and other beneficiaries, always appreciate your support. Let the fun begin!

Amigo. Of course, I could just come for the smiles and laughs and Baja Good Times. Good Luck to everyone. Weather last week was cool and beautiful.

I think they want everyone signed up by the captains meeting/dinner. But since this is a charity benefit event I'm pretty sure you could push the time
line a bit. I'm in a 14' tin boat so I'll be pushing the envelope a bit too watching the weather. However if you miss the Captains dinner you may not
get a diddy bag stuffed with all manor of goodies.

Oh Boy, there have been a lot of scoolies around for the last week but the last couple days there have been some quality bulls caught. Reports are the
small dorado are wide open. Weather forecast is for continuing far weather. This could be the best year in awhile so make your plans for the $1,000
jack pot fish.

What a difference just a couple of days make!!! Yesterday, June 17th, Mark Fodor landed an “on the scale!” 36 pound bull dorado, (photo) and today, a
50 pound plus, bull dorado, was landed by Vance Willer!!! He just flew in, rented a panga and got his fish with the rather minimum set up of 20# test.
Both of these fighters were caught with the same type of set up. WOW! The action is really heating up for our 17th Annual Bulls Only Dorado
Tournament here in beautiful Punta Chivato. Locals and new arrivals are out daily trying to find THE spot for that big one which will win them the
$1,000.00 first prize! The local accommodations are booked and entry forms are coming in from all over. The weather and the fishing are fabulous,
and it’s not JUST a few big ones, but LOTS of fish!
