I loved the Los Arcos Cabanas! In fact, I was trying to book a cabana there and couldn't get through, so I Googled Los Arcos and that is how I
originally found this message board. I really wish they would re-open but I realize that's not likely anytime soon. Too bad. Sounds like a "cutting
your nose off to spite your face" kind of situation.

Well, of course that is true. Sigh.......

I assume you are talking about the Union position, and I agree.
The owners are under no obligation to meet the Union demands, and they do have alternatives, which they excercised..
So, a beautiful old historic private hotel that offered a great experience at reasonable prices is no more.

I forgot to mention...........
When they are in town, Rod Hall and Robbie Gordon stay at Casa Tuscany. PLus several bikers.
The owner like Pinot Griggio as a house warming gift if you want to butter her up!

it a huge burden of back wages. So far Coppola has lost in court but it's still being litigated. IMHO both parties are culpabily intractable here.
Que lastima La Paz.
An interesting sidelight here is that when Alaska airlines pulled out of La Paz one of their reasons was the lack of hotel space here. We are
spending millions to attract tourists yet the gov. here does not hint of sticking there nose in here to adjudicate this mess. In its time it was the
jewel of BCS. It still could be but it will take some reasonable people with DEEP pockets to revive it. Some have suggested it will be turned into
condos but remember the sindicato has effectively placed a lien on the property and every day that lien grows. |
And imagine if the union actually wins the property in court and then tries to run it. They would go broke within a couple of months.

I remember a few years ago when the same thing happened at La Fonda and they boarded up the place. After a couple years, they just moved it into
another building (I think the owner's home) and started over. The OLD La Fonda restaurant, I think, is now some kind of spa, or something like that.
