Major accident on Hwy 1 north of La Paz

About 6:30 I was trying to drive up to Loreto from La Paz. 60km outside La Paz I came across what looked like a pretty serious accident involving a bus. There were about 20 cars/trucks in front of me so I didn't see the details, but after waiting a few minutes, the rescue squad and police started to show up.

The truckers told me it would be hours before we could get through since the accident was pretty bad, so I turned around and headed back to La Paz.

I saw 6 more ambulances heading to the scene as I drove back. In La Paz someone told me Hwy 1 was closed and that there were at least 3 dead, many injured, and some big-wig politician was involved.

So sorry for the loss of life and injuries.

Almost a year ago we were detained in that very area by another bus-vehicle accident with fatalities.

Drive carefully always, folks, wherever you are.
