CROSSING INTO TIJUANA ON FOOT
Hola,
with the new crossing, can i still go almost to the end of the 5 fwy, exit the stop before the border crossing, turn right at the light, go into the
first parking lot entry on the right and walk across the bridge into mexico ?
need to go to costco for some meds but do not want to drive in tj and need to buy insurance and spend hours being lost due to the lack of navigational
skills.
did this about two years ago and just took a taxi. my driver was kind enough to drop me off at the northerly pedestrian crossing for my walk back to
my car.
is it still the same ?
i thank you in advance,
BIEN SALUD, DA RAT

I don't think the foot bridge is used any longer and entry is on the opposite side, going behind McDonalds, like at the end of the Trolley Line.
Where it goes after crossing the line, I'm not sure. Someone will be along shortly to fill you in.

I walked over to TJ a couple weeks ago, I parked at my
usual spot , on the so. side of Hwy 5 last exit at an
Insurance kiosk. As pionted out, the new ped entry into
Mex in on the no. side of Hwy 5, near the end of the
SD Red Trolley end, somewhat obscure/awkward
entry into Mex, the traditional turnstiles, and Mex Imm
you then walk down some stairs and end up down and
crossing the ped line that is EXITING Mex back to the US,
simple enough though, a lot of this is temp as
Mex is building a 3 story building that will house the
entry into Mex, i kinda miss the more ped friendly
so. side entry, has
a lot of memories

Yo u do take the same exit once in s ysidro. Park in any of the same parking lots and then follow the trickle of people towards the LEFT. You will
hit a ramp and go up and down. And just as sancho said, you end up in a line of people headed north, cross it, cross the street. Shop and head
back.

I went last year to buy meds, and I thought the new ped border crossing was kind of out of the way, and seemed inconvenient. But of course, there are
signs all over the place directing you towards it.

Sancho... West and East as opposed to South and North (sides of I-5, ... a north-south freeway) yes?

walk across the border
I walked across Mon. no problem as discussed. Returning to the U.S. I took Mexacoach to the border, it took about 2 hours to get to the border. The
people walking across were in line 3 plus hours. Bring a book & the bus ride isn't bad. Some people had the their taxi take them to the lane were
the buses were waiting, & were only on the bus a short time.
good luck

I've never had to wait more than 45 minutes to cross back into the US. But I always try to go in the morning, because I think the lines are longer in
the afternoon.

When you get to the end of the ramp to enter into Mexico, there are turnstiles, and also doors.
Maybe someone else can post a larger photo, I had to resize this one down to in order to post it.

hmmmm,.. i got curious and looked at the common online maps,... the busiest border xing in the world changed layout almost a year ago, and not one of
the online maps (google, bing, tomtom) shows current xing layout. the internet is so last year,...
