New bacteria found in Pacific Ocean mud
This is exciting news which affects everyone. There are several universities in Baja and in Baja Sur that study marine biological sciences and offer
credientals, masters and doctorates. We may see some interesting studies being conducted here in peninsula waters since this breakthrough study done
at Scripps Institute in Alta California.

Does this mean Sea of Cortez mud is still safe to eat?

It is interesting. So much about the oceans is still unknown.
This new bacteria counteracts the deadly effects of MSRP, which is the deadly flesh-eating bacteria that is resistant to now-known antibiotics.
I really hope that the professors of the Marine Geology and Marine Biology majors in Baja's universities are aware of this discovery and will be
participating in developing explorations here in Baja's waters.

It would be a feather in their cap, for sure, but unless their level of expertise has changed, the job will best be left to Scripps.
Fifteen or so years back, I had next door neighbors, a young couple and a child.....the husband a professor at UABC with a locally earned doctorate
in Oceanography , and his wife with the same credential........and they were sent to England by the university to upgrade their doctorates to a world
class standard.
It took a couple of years as their local doctorate was only on a standard of a Master's Degree in more advanced regions of the world.
I only relate this story for interest.
