On-Line Fishing License for Baja Sur

Just noticed this on the Baja Pony Express website:

"As most of you know, you can no longer purchase paper Mexican fishing licenses. The licenses now have to be purchased on line. the web site is www.bcs.gob.mx -- go to servicios y pagos, then Permisos de Pesca Deportiva. The exact link for the application is:

http://apps.bcs.gob.mx/finanzas/finaweb/fonmar/index.php

The licenses are daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. You will need a visa or mastercard, or can make a bank withdrawal from a Bancomer peso account. Good luck."

===================================

The website above is in addition to the one below that I have used for few years:

http://www2.ebajacalifornia.gob.mx/Pesca/index.jsp?i=Eua

The two websites appear to be related to the two state governments of Baja California and Baja California Sur. The actual licenses do not indicate which state they were purchased in and should be valid nationally. Maybe the money does remain in the state where purchased , (as has been mentioned here before).

It would be nice if the money stayed in the states. It seems to be a good idea to sell them only on line. Saves them money for the paper and keeps things above board --- no skimming. And no excuse for someone not having a license.

Ok, I followed the link, paid for the license, but all I got was a receipt for paying for the license. How do I retrieve the actual license from the site?

There was a problem with their system the day I tried to download it, after about 2 hours and several phone calls, I finally found the guy in charge and he emailed it to me.

I have heard mixed stories about fishing licenses being required for the Sea of Cortez. Can anyone confirm that they are required for US citizens on vacation?

Mula,

I am registered with that site, however when I sign in I am told that I "don't have any permit at this status". There is a link for previous permits, update info and to quit. I may be looking right at it, but where on the site do I link up to applying for a permit?

Sorry, I got my permit a couple of weeks ago through that site - Best Baja Fishing - and had no problems. But last week when I tried to get my husband's through his e mail, etc. I had the same problem.

I found this other site:
http://apps.bcs.gob.mx/finanzas/finaweb/fonmar/

and got this license through that. 618 pesos - verses 553 for a permit through Best Baja Fishing.

I couldn't get the Best Baja Fishing site to work either.

Diana T. I'm puzzled -- why would you want the online or offline fishing license sales money to "Stay in the states"? Maybe you meant the United States of Mexico.

We used the BCS site to purchase a license on Wed., but had the same experience as Monoloco mentioned above. We received the receipt of payment...Comprobante de Pago.. but no license. Thanks to info from Monoloco, we were able to contact the office and received the license by email this morning.
Here is who to contact if you have similar troubles.....fonmar.bcs@gmail.com or phone 612 123 3807 in La Paz. Although I speak passable Spanish, there are people in the office who speak English very well. Cesar Angulo is the name of employee who sent the email this morning with the license.
