Just talked to Baja Cactus Hotel and she said the road was open to Catavina. I figured she would know for sure since they would see the turned around travelers.
Im hoping its open by now, we're leaving at the buttcrack o' dawn...

Any further news would be MUCH appreciated!

So are we!

So glad it is open!

I asked about going north before I saw this thread had already been started.

Weird how the article says road closed going south......does not make sense at all....

Flash floods can happen anytime. No guarantees driving the Baja highway.

Funny how that happened!

The longest we have seen it closed was a few years ago when several of the bridges washed out. It was not long before they had detours around the bridges.

However, as long as it keeps raining around Cataviña I can't see away around the problem.

No, it is the same phenomenon as walking uphill to school both ways in a deep snowstorm.

Went thru Catavina northbound about 9 AM Saturday - no problems, no rain, just a little water in the washes south & north of town. Guess I lucked out and missed the storm.

I noticed the truck driving through the trailer park with a wistful look in his eyes and he drove by Budda's place at least three times hoping.
