Baja GPS data for Tundra nav system
Hi all,
Just got a new 2013 Tundra with its onboard GPS nav system, problem is with one passes SOB, there is no data for Mexico. Anyone have experience
updating this system, perhaps they will so it for you at the Tijuana Toyota dealership?

On my 2013 Ram the NAv system is in partnership with Garmin so Mexico maps for Garmn GPS'S works. Check to see if Toyota has a similar partnership
since I imagine they don't make their own GPS. Then again, maybe they didn't think the new Tundra was up to the ruggedness of Baja.
Just kidding! Don't want to start another War. Hope all goes well. On-board Nav is neat.

Ask the folks at Cartographia E32. They sell Mexico topo maps that also include cities and roads. They could probably help you or send you in the
right direction.

Guys, checked with the folks at both Garmin and Cartographia and neither support any factory made GPS systems. So its down to waiting to hear back
from Toyota to see if they have a software package for Mexico....When I called the sales manager at Mossy Toyota in PB he said we were the 1st to ever
ask so he would need to get back to us!

Who supplies the GPS unit for Toyota????
As mentioned above, Dodge uses a Garmin system. Have not tried to upgrade it yet, but will check on the details.

Is there a method of updating the maps in the built-in GPS system? If so, how is it accomplished? What type of connector is on the GPS? SD slot? Micro
USB?

All of the vehicles I have owned with built in GPS systems are updated with replacement DVD's. There is usually a hidden DVD slot on the face of the
unit. In my current Subaru it is available from the manufacturer of the unit, Kenwood. (It sucks compared to my Garmin units, FWIW.) No maps for
Mexico are available with my unit.

now days, the handheld, dash mounted units are better, cheaper and have great data bases. how much do you really need that GPS? Well, when you do,
the handheld, dash mount will work for you.

I have Cartographia E32 loaded on my Garmin (someone else mentioned this). It's the best I have seen for Baja. Almost too much detail in some cases.
