Immigration office at San Ysidro

Can someone tell me where the immigration office is located at the San Ysidro crossing? Which lane to be in to safely get to the office?

Stay to the right as you enter the San Ysidro gate. The INM office is in the same building as the declaration lane.

Thanks Udo. It sounds like the old San Ysidro crossing.

No. It's not like the old crossing, it's better. When you turn into the long "driveway" leading from the old demolished crossing to the new one, there are just 2 or 3 lanes, but at the end there is a "yard" before the gates, and there you can choose to which gate you line up.

Take the right-most gate where buses are crossing, and go inside.

This is the southbound from San Ysidro into Tijuana crossing, right? San Ysidro is the U.S. northbound crossing.

Yes, Southbound. Normally people need immigration office when going Southbound, no? :)

Is the "yard" where we would park and walk to immigration?

Technically it's supposed to be, but, well... it's Mexico.

Correcto. But... this forum is not a cream of intellectual elite, as you've probably noticed :)... Which is fine with me... So, when somebody here says "SY crossing", it could mean - either direction.

Don't remember. I didn't have a good look, to tell the truth. If you don't see anything that looks like parking before the gates, go from that yard into the fenced area marked "Declaration" - this is at the end of the "driveway" and before the gates. Don't worry, you can exit into that yard again without anybody asking you anything. The Declaration area is huge, for people to park their RVs, and there is a door from there into the same Immigration building.

As you approach the old crossing the road will now make a 90 deg. right turn and parallel the border for about 100 yds before turning back to the left. You should be in the far right lane so instead of turning left you can pull straight ahead into the are marked Declaracion. Just pull in and park and to the south you will see a large office bldg. Just head in there for INM to get your FMM and Aduana is also in that bldg. Yes the Bank was open 24/7 the last time I went through in July.
