Hughes Net Sat Mex 8 working in Baja?

When we left southern Baja the end of March, our Hughes Net 7000 system was working fine on Sat Mex 5. Sat Mex 8 had just been launched and users were going to be changed over during the summer. Here's my question: Are there any current users who have been switched to Sat Mex 8? Was the switch over seamless, or did you have to adjust the dish, or make changes to the modem or software? (We have the 7000 modem)

We'll be heading down in a couple of weeks and thought I would check with fellow Baja users and make any phone calls to HN before heading south. As you know it can be a long and challenging experience dealing with HN customer service.

Must have gone smoothly- I forgot about the change and just checked our System Control and it looks like we're now on Satmex8. Haven't had a problem and didn't have to make any adjustments.

How do you check your system control to see what Sat you are on?

I have been all over my Hughes modem pages and have not found the Sat location.

Thanks.

Thanks, I was hoping it would easy and not take adjustments on our end. I'll be reconnecting ours up in a couple weeks.

go to system info

my guy say satmex5 (117west) is still up
sat mex8 is still taking over

like all new equipment its much better
and will spot beam signal...then no internet

I had to move over to the older satmex6 (113west)
no signal on some transponders for satmex5 or now 8

there will be ALOT of unhappy campers this winter when they return...

Bob,
Satmex website http://www.satmex.com.mx/content/fleet/satmex8 shows Satmex8 is 117 West. I think ours and Mula's have already been switched to #8.

They have Satmex5 as 114.9 West.
