I think having different forums for different things is a good thing. If one does not like a particular topic and uses the Today's Posts, it is easy to scroll right down and past things of no interest.

Medical issues, especially how to deal with them in Baja is important. The lack of any real medical care for potentially serious conditions in central Baja is one of the reasons we sold our place.

Information is helpful, as long as it does not turn into a long distance, and dangerous diagnosis forum.

I think if we can have a "Baja 'toons" forum then a "Medical Forum" which is almost guaranteed to draw postings is a no brainer.

Thank you- great analysis DaveE

It's been several years since I lived in Baja, but I remember healthcare was a challenge at times. Your post reminded me of a few reasons why.

I was fortunate to be referred to good doctors but as you describe, the systems are very different and there is definitely a learning curve.

For all those reasons I still vote aye on this forum idea.

It does not work at all for me and I'll tell you why...

A responder may likely recommend a medication or treatment that is not available in Mexico. In this case the word "likely" is like 99%

There are communication and payment issues that are unique.

Baja California is unique, which means it is nothing like mainland Mexico.

Medical facilities in Chula Vista and San Diego are unique. When people seek a reference on a medical site, they are guaranteed to receive either no answer or an irrelevant answer. School of hard knocks dept.

Avoiding a topic that does not interest you is so easy to do. Avoiding a topic SECTION a dedicated forum means "a non-click". You don't even have to close your eyes. How hard is that?

So the real issue should be if Señor Bajanomad Administrator wants to go through all the time and trouble to set up and maintain another forum. It may be best to label such a forum as "Baja Related Medical And Health Issues". I believe one thing for certain, such a forum would be unique.
