Rocket Spanish
I have been using this on-line program and really like it.
Compared to programs like Rosetta, it was really inexpensive ($89).
It starts with easy conversation and moves you slowly into tenses, conjugations.
I was even able to walk into a restaurant today and make reservations, which would have terrified me just 2 weeks ago.

If you're short on time, just stay in the present tense. You'll be able to talk with the Spanish speaking world. Their graciousness will work out the
rest.
Suerte.

I am finding that to be true. People seem genuinely pleased that I make the effort and are very accommodating and they praise me!
Now that's some great incentive.
I am loving it here.

you will find that your attempts will be genuinly recieved and even if you murder it, you will be understood. I always try and remember to speak, a
little slower and softer, spanish seems to be a very polite language, especially for the unfamiliar. its a pretty fun language to learn, in that one
particular word may take the place of 2 or so in english, keep things simple and you will appreciated

Thanks for this - I think this is what I am going to ask for this Christmas! Rosetta Stone is just too expensive and Rocket Spanish gets really good
reviews.

Rosetta Stone was a waste for me. It focused more on the nouns which for me are easier to pick up just by translating signs or looking up the object
I am seeking. I have had more success with a CD program by a guy named Michel Thomas. His focus is more on the verbs such as I... need, want, like,
etc. In the first 15 minutes I could say an entire sentence.
