Video: The Road From Punta Blanca to Laguna Chapala
We had a lot of discussion about the road from Laguna Chapala to Punta Blanca - now you can see what that road looks like. Here's some video we shot last Saturday
on the drive east, after supporting COPS Racing in the Baja 1000. If you enjoy being remote with lots of rocks and silt, then this road is for you.

at +/- 2:43 is how i remember the better parts of the road below the mountains. completely encased in talcum power! of course we were only going 15
mph at the time and hoping the guy in front didn't stop for some reason!!!

Great video... shows how easy a Tacoma cruises Baja's backroads! When you drop in the silt bowls, the dust just envelops your truck!

Thanks! I like the shots of the silt, looking back. And obviously, as silt goes, that wasn't bad at all. Of course my tires were at around 14psi.

BFG All Terrains. For many years, I've been a fan of BFGs - I also like the fact that they support SCORE and off road racing. I dealt with BFG when we
raced, and they were a huge help. Great people in addition to their products.

The entire video is in chronological/geographical order. The section you're referring to is <5 miles west of the highway.

That was going to be my first guess... going down to 14 psi on dirt usually means 3 ply sidewalls... and 8-10 on deep sand!

Chapala road
Wow, great report and video.
It looked like you were driving fast, did it really take 3 hours for 30 miles!!! Must be a lot of silt and slow sections. I always wanted to try that
road but I'm reconsidering now. The cordonices route the race course followed this year is a nice but slow route. I did it in my truck in a leisurely
2 days camping in the middle. Total driving timing was maybe 4 hrs to coast.

3 hours in 30 miles is still faster than the other route. Cool vid. Thanks for taking the time to stitch it together!

Thanks everyone. Yes, it took three hours, but I was also stopping to reposition the GoPro, take photos, etc., so actual running time was probably a
bunch less. And besides, I just found out the Locos Mocos guys were in front of me (in Tacomas), and made it to the highway in two hours. Not that
anybody's racing ...
