Thanks BigOly, I've always looked forward to viewing your photos of all kinds of birds. I'm a huge bird fan, too, and photograph them whenever I can.
By way of testing my recent re-arrangement of my Photobucket account, I hope you will not mind if I add one of my own shorebird photos. This photo
was taken many years ago on an island in front of my home in Coyote Bay within Conception Bay. I know it is an oyster catcher, but not sure if it has
any further appropriate name. It has a very unique twittering call. Unfortunately we don't see too many these days.
I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.

Add all the pics you want. It's all good. Your bird is an American Oystercatcher. We get mostly Black Oystercatchers back in Oregon. I'm fooling
around with settings also. Here's a Greater Yellowlegs

Once you start noticing birds, then identifying and learning about them, it becomes 2nd nature to look for them and becomes a part of your life -even
for novices like my husb and I.
Walk on the beach when we're visiting the SOC side and it's fun to watch Oystercatcher mates and hear them talk to each other. One of my favorites are
the Kingfishers who very cool and rare in our area.
Terns and Ospreys and Frigates and Gulls are a part of our daily lives as well a couple of Great Blue Herons who hang out on palapas of neighbors up
the way.
But those pain-in-the-butt Shorebirds! Plovers and Sandpipers and Dowitchers and Turnstones- those dang things all look the same and life's too short
to keep going back to the bird books to get 'em straight. So until they start wearing name tags I will avert my eyes.
...until of course, one makes an unusal peeping or a new call and I'll have to go look it up again.

Excellent photos! I looked for our resident oystercatchers in Coyote Bay a few weeks ago but missed them. They'll be back. Thanks.
