Oxxo...seriously...the rooms always smell wonderful at Cowboy...I've stayed there dozens of times and it's very clean...and has a no dog policy by the
way but they can be persuaded to look the other way for responsible doggie parents.
Most of their clients are commercial and government people...only tourists have pets along.
I guess the point is, meth heads are everywhere and one must be aware of the possibility of one's car getting broken into at some point in their
lives...so dont leave valuables in your vehicle or yep get an alarm.

Stayed at Malarimmo the same night and had no trouble at all. Glad we chose that instead of the Cowboy.

most folks dont think about the simple fact that its a border town !!! and I have yet to see a border that's not a bit on the shaky side......myself
after many bad times in/near GN avoid gn at all costs !! Catavina to san Ignacio is a good run...and if you spend the night in GN you will almost
always have FOG on the deck in the mornings to drive in...(winter)..."the armpit of BCS"......nothing there anyway !!

Weren't pros for sure, as a pro would have been prepared to sever the battery cables in a few seconds instead of trying to disconnect them with a
wrench.

I'm really sorry I started all of this negativity about the nice hotels in GN. I'm sure it was just an off night at Caracol, and the safest place in
town is probably the Cowboy right after an unfortunate incident.
Never had a problem in GN and we love dinner at Malarrimo, just to look at that big old photo! So pretty and mysterious!

The theft thing can happen anywhere. Heck, once we had our truck stolen in front of three armed security guards. 
The dog issue is always a bit of a problem. We travel with our dogs, now dog, all the time, but we respect people who have a NO dog policy for all or
some of their rooms as it is a real problem for people with severe allergies, as is the case with one person here. It is very, very difficult for
people with allergies when a hotel says no dogs, and then allows dogs.

I've only stayed at Cowboy 3 times but each time I felt my vehicle was very safe. It was 5 feet from my front door, in a courtyard, monitored my a
night watchmen. I stayed there the night before the Baja 1000 and there was a ton of valuables on chase trucks etc.....no issues whatsoever.
Not sure why people are piling on a good establishment. Actually, I know why....this is the internet.

OOPS !! sorry bout the double post...Not supposed to work like that" monoloco"...Funny I just had a nomad u2u me and expressed that they felt the same
as I do about GN but didn't wasn't to post how they felt as to not start a "flame war" their exact words...when someone donst feel like posting how
they feel about a place or area I think there is a problem...and to "archie" yes,I'm very well traveled as I have done something with my time on this
planet.......So,are you living in GN archie ??? In the two story mansion with the pool and view of the Pemex...LOL..LOL......And I'm a healthy,,fit
53 yr young..that most guess to be 40...So, If that's old !!tough s--t

I really like GN and area. Cowboys was great last March. The upstairs room we had was new and lovely. I would stay there again. Sure, there were some
rough edges, but thank heavens it's not like home where crime doesn't ever sleep. Go on a night shift ride-a-long with the police some night.

As I don't know shinola about real estate and such matters...But a friend of mine that does,, just called me about the new "club med" that's gonna be
coming to GN....she suggested I get over to GN asap and get in as she puts it "the ground floor" for some great prices on the new timeshares...I'm In
!!!

I have a soft spot for GN as well. Many compare it to San Quintin because of the fog but I find GN to have a lot more character. It's usually
delightful until about noon, before the wind starts to blow, and then things get less pleasant. We have many fond memories of that area. Perhaps the
best is that it has largely remained unchanged, ungringofied.
