Mexicali Declare Lanes
Hello Nomads, We will be crossing into Mexicali next Sunday on our way to our home in San Felipe. We will have some things with us that we will need
to declare. We usually enter through the old gate and are familiar with the declare lanes, bank etc. there, but my husband is thinking that the
declare lane there will be busy since it is the Sunday before Christmas. We are thinking that the new border crossing (East Crossing) may be less of
a wait to declare, pay etc. Has anyone here had experience using the declare lanes at the new crossing in Mexicali? Would you recommend that choice
over the old gate? Thanks! Grace

Amazing Grace
Unless it is obvious, I just use the Nada lane. If you must use the decleracion lane, take a piece of paper and jot down the values of what your are
bringing in, I usually cut the price in half, unless it is an LCD TV.
At the NEW crossing, you have to turn towards the right, so be in the right lane. You will enter a parking lot area where you park and go to the
office. They will determine your cost, you then have to walk south towards the exit to a small bank, where they will take your money and stamp your
receipt.
You then have to walk back and show them the paperwork. They will stamp it 46 times and then send you on your way.
PS We will be down on the 26th.

As you cross over the bridge way from the USA into the Mexican Customs the declare lane is to the far right and clearly signed over that lane. There
is only two lanes crossing over the bridge way and as you cross over the bridge it opens up to about 5 or 6 lanes. So, stay in the far right lane as
you are going from the USA over the bridge way to Mexico and you can't get confused with the signs.
I cross over about twice a week and the lines are not bad around 9am to 12pm in the morning and from 4pm to 10pm it can get jammed due to all the farm
workers going back into Mexicali after work along with others doing fast food jobs, working in local stores etc. going back home to Mexicali. This
line at night can get to be a hazel real quick during harvest time. They are checking everyone that even looks like they have something in their
vehicles right now. Take Care & Travel Safe-----"No Hurry, No Worry, Just FUN" bajafun777

Thanks Cortez and Bajafun,
I have some big items that we feel we need to declare since my husband has a truck with a camper shell on back which they like to check when we come
through. So, I bring receipts for the big things and all the small things go into the suitcases.
Hey Cortez, I'll send you an U2U later with some contact info. Maybe we can meet up when we are all down. We'll be there until the morning of the
3rd.
