Would like some info and recommendations for economical motel or hotel accommodation in LA Bay. Don't need fancy just clean.

Here they are, on Mia's web site: http://www.bahiadelosangeles.info/accomodations.htm

We have stayed at Costa del Sol, Las Hamacas, and if you go way back in time: Casa Diaz.

Villa Vitta has been re-vamped. Clean and cheap. Also, has a pool.

I have always stayed at Guillermo's when visiting LA Bay. Reasonably priced, big rooms, clean, great restaurant and staff. They are located on the south end of the strip, on the Sea of Cortez side. I have heard that Costa Del Sol is good to.

That has to be a major revamp. Did they do all the rooms, north and west sides? We got stuck there a couple years ago, nails all over the parking gravel, nonflushing toilets, electrical problems and not clean at all. Pool was a hole in the pavement, restaurant was dirty and closed. Worst of all, no staff to speak of and nobody there seemed to care....this is just south of Costa del Sol which was filled up that night?

Edit: Anybody know the name of the pizza place in between?

Was there several years ago and vowed never to go back. Last year for one reason or another we gave it another chance. Rooms were clean and everything worked. The pool was open and clean. We did not try the restaurant. However the guy at the desk gave the impression he was doing us a huge favor by renting us a room. We were the only guests.

have stayed at costa del sol many times.... nice, but at the top of the price range in room and food. 65 per room and $7 breakfast, ya Im fine with it. BUT.... you want to try something a little different.... Campo Echelon (sp) north of town about 1 mile. the thing I like is that it is right on the water. room with 2 beds and cots for extra people is $40. room is detached and has small kitchen, and bath. Palapa with a cot is $8, common area showers and toilets (these don't have very good water pressure). A fire pit on the ocean and the bola stars at night are hard to beat. If staying at costa ...drive out to Echelon and take a look around for future trips. ALSO... I ate at Villa Vita last trip and it was pretty good, (breakfast). there are several small resturants on the main drag that are reasonable.

Unfortunately I'd like to help but it's been years since I've been there
Ate dinner with the Diaz's in their kitchen with my airplane parked right outside, had drinks with Jim B in front of the big octagonal house stayed at Villa Vita but got a big electrical shock from the shower head :-) and even had dinner in Gonzaga with the OLD Papa Fernandez eating fried turtle. Ya, lots of years ago.

Great stories... remember Cruz Diaz back in the days she did not appreciate being called 'Mama'? In more recent years, someone said the pool light at Villa Vita was not grounded, and would never swim in there... like the shower heads, ???
