Yes. And you know what's strange?
I had been coming to Asuncion in July for several years and had never experienced a calm day. Each day started with flat seas and ended with 20 knot
winds at San Roques. And if it's windy in the summer, I reasoned, what must it be like in January?
Surprise, Surprise. The Cortez is windy in January but Asuncion is gentle. It's been like that 2 years now. Last year it was windier in 'Alaska' and
quieter in 'Hawaii' but this year it was Hawaii weather everywhere.
P.S. I have some more images of the salt flats but they will be part of 'baja landscapes'. Some of the landscapes require photoshop work so it may be
a while.

Good photos, thanks for the report.
What would you say the daytime highs were in Asuncion?

It felt like mid to high 70's. I never took a temperature reading.
BTW, that brings me to accuweather.com. It doesn't seem to be very accurate at all. The forecast was 7mph winds on the Cortez but it never felt less
than 15mph. If you compare accuweather to wunderweather they disagree by 10 degrees every day in baja.

Thanks for sharing! That road to Chapala from Gonz did seem a tad rough last week. I didn't see any big rigs though. Looks like a fun time and you
are right about feeling relaxed on the drive home.................the sign of a great trip. Until San Ysidro. I flipped out into a cursing fit as
soon as the border lanes were diverted into the TJ streets, leaving us to fend for ourselves to find the Sentri lane.

As we waited for our turn my mind started to wander:
I could have flown from LAX to Anchorage in the time it took to cross those 200 yds.

It was a pleasure to meet you and your son. A rather humbling experience. Think I may have to use the new year's bonfire picture as my wall paper.

As always, it was wonderful to have you and your handsome son Alex here for the holiday cheer. It was also great to see you in such good spirits
Igor...
Here is some of the gang at Campo Sirena's new years festivities...good thing there is no sound as there were some crazy loud fireworks thanks to
Mr.Bajagypsy..that scoundrel!
the light show was pretty cool too
Many people think like you did about Asuncion's winter weather...but it's usually real sweet over the holidays. Our real winter here is mid March-Mid
June...cold and windy.
Look forward to your next visit amigo....cheers and may 2014 be a great year for you & Alex!

Omigod. I'm gonna get you for this.
The irony is that I probably drank less than anyone there. I even fished the next morning.
The only one missing was Iflyfish. Last year Alex told me - "I didn't know an older man could dance like that". Yes, I explained, those psychologists
are pretty uninhibited.

Fifteen years from now I'll look at this picture and marvel at how young I looked.
But I have a suggestion for that.

Another hoot in Asuncion! Looks like a good time is being had by gregarious folks with lots of dancing around the fire.
For some reason that photo of you reminds me of Zorba the Greek.
Dance On!!
I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.

I was reflecting this morning on golden moments with Nomad friends...those times that are etched in my memory forever...like Gypsy with seaweed
wrapped around her...Baja Bernie with his hand gently resting on the head of his personal whale...Iflyfish's sh*t eating grin when he caught that 50
lb yellowtail...Barbareno talking to her horse friend....Motoged with his broken foot up on a chair...and countless more.
Igor...I will never forget that immortal moment when I saw you raise that champagne bottle to your lips and take a healthy swig...it is etched in my
memory forever and amigo....it's a good one indeed! cheers amigo...all the best in 2014
