any one been to Popotla Restaurant in the trailer park?
After hearing that Popotla Restaurant in the trailer park was open and two people recommended it to us we finally made the time to go there. What a
disappointment.
The location is great. You can watch the surfers and the room itself is nicely appointed. In fact very nice, compared to most places. But.. the
margaritas where very medicore (tasted like mix) and the guacamole and chips where awful, greasy chips and over ripe avocados. Service was great and
the owner or manager very friendly.
Might give them another try later but not with guests. The views, the room and service make it worth another try. Beer would be safe!
Anyone else have an experience here?

There is a Popotla south of Rosarito at the south wall of the Fox studio lot. I guess that's the one but I have not seen a trailer park. It's a
fisherman's landing with fish markets (tables built on the sand to display the catch). It's primative and there's a few restaurants some of which are
on the sand.
10 minutes further south is Puerto Nuevo, well known for their many restaurants.

a few weeks ago I walked up from the beach just to cruise around the park and check out the restaurant, its really nice with a fabulous view. the one
long time resident I spoke to says none of the locals go there,guess they dont much care for the management. course that was ONE resident!

Popotla Mobile Home and RV Park is not the fishing village named Popotla.

Should have stated Mobile home park rather than trailer park. Gypsy Jan's links are correct. The Mobile Home Park it just South of Popotla Fishing
Village and then just North of Calafia
Hope this helps in location

BAJA CALIFORNIA is as long as California and Oregon, and since this forum is about all of Baja (and sometimes more), please add the nearest big town
or state/ region when naming a place that many here may not know... thank you!
An example would be to post in a West Coast USA forum about a restaurant in Bonsall, and expect people living in Oakland to know where Bonsall is?

Thank you Skip... and naturally, I love maps so I can post a map of anyplace in Baja just about... There are folks who only fly to Cabo or live in the
Cape region, etc. who don't know much or anything about the coastal villages north of Ensenada.
Now, if you have driven the Corredor 2000 from Otay to the coast, it is hard to not see where Popotla is:
It used to be well known for Fox Baja Studios and the filming location of Titanic... later called 'Foxploration' with other movie props.
See Popotla at the highway jcn. of Corredor 2000 and Mex. 1, south of Rosarito...
40 years ago on the AAA map...

The last time I was there was when the little Popotla pier was still in decent shape. 80s maybe? The food was actually pretty good. I went again and
they were not open to the public.

Went there this week. Apparently they have opened to the public. The food was delicious (We all had the Popotla fajita special). The restaurant was
completely empty when we stopped by in the afternoon to check out the menu and it was completely empty when we went back for dinner around 5:00.
There were a bunch of people in the adjoining room playing cards. Big drawback is the sun setting with all the windows facing the ocean. It got so
hot and uncomfortable that we moved our table to the middle of the carpet, away from the oppressive heat. Closed on Tuesday.

Have been there a few times. Great view if the sun is in the right place. Nice ice cold draft beer for a $1.00 us. Food nothing to brag about, most
of the staff, speak English. Easy, if limited traffic, to cross the highway and head north.
