Mexican citizenship application in La Paz
Anyone applied for Mex Citizenship in La Paz?? Heard it can be done there without having to make a trip to Guadalajara?? Any input would be great.

We went to Mexico City. I was not aware that Guadalajara is an option.

I was told that as well but after several futile attempts and alot of expense, i went directly to Mexico City through a fantastic lawyer named
Gilberto Pineda. I was told afterwards that La paz is called the graveyard of citizenship papers...meaning very few ever make it out of there or are
successful. I wouldnt waste my time and money trying to do it there...unless things have changed which is always a possibility.

When you call for an appointment they'll refer you to a page listing requirements that you must fulfill and present to them at the time of your
appointment.

Women have had problems because of surnames, etc, Many of us have had great results with Gilberto Pinedo in La Cieudad to Mexico. Search the history
of the mqany recomendations! I'm good. Tio

I did mine in La Paz, it was relatively easy. First trip was the application at the SRE office. Across the street there were some businesses that
typed up all the paper work for a nominal fee (around 150 pesos). Turned in the paper work and took a short exam asking the reasons I wanted to become
a citizen and who in Mexican history has been an influence. This process cost 1,100 or 1,300 pesos, I can’t quite remember but it was very reasonable.
A couple months later I was notified that I was accepted and instructed to make the final payment of 1,800 pesos. They said they would notify me when
the paperwork came back as they sent it all to Mexico.
There was a glitch. They didn’t notify me. I called about a year later and was told that they received the final papers 2 months before so come on by
and finish it up. Went back to La Paz to the SRE office and was out of there in about an hour with citizenship.
I asked about a passport and was instructed to get my voter card first, which I did. That took about 3 weeks. Returned to the SRE office and they
printed up a passport.
All in all it took over a year but very inexpensive. If you would rather pay a couple thousand dollars and have citizen papers in hand within a month
or two, that’s great. When I did mine, I had more time than money.

Was this in recent years that you did this?
You didn't have to go to Mexico City?

I did this 10 years ago but I think you can still go through the process in La Paz. It just takes longer and you're in the dark for much of the time.
From what I’ve read, going to Mexico and hiring the attorney can be a lot less intimidating and stressful. To pay to expedite the process and pretty
much guarantee success is probably money well spent.

There was an article in the local paper that they were opening an SRE office in San Jose or San Lucas but there was no address.
