Not a landslide actually. That is to say, there has been a bull dozer pushing the rock down for the last few days. Just road work.

looks like the overlook just south of Nopolo.
Always chance of slides after heavy rain.
Maybe just preventive measures??

I just came north from Los Barriles last Wednesday and it most certainly is a landslide; we were stopped for about 1/2 hour, as was the southbound
lane, giving the workers some time to clear.
But then, when we finally were allowed to go past, there is so much fine dirt in the air, one cannot see anything in front and so you don't know what
you are driving over.
Therefore, unfortunately, a few miles up the road we had a flat tire of one of our good Michelin tires, just sliced! fortunately I was not driving on
my own this time and my husband and other who stopped were able to get our 'donut' tire put on and we limped into Loreto near sunset, but the Michelin
store was still open and was able to sell us a new tire--ONLY 2700 pesos!! .......a bargain at twice the price, hmmmmm.
Stayed the night and yes, at least we were on our way the next morning without delay, but having to negotiate the high winds and torrential rains on
Friday 28th Feb!
Wondering if anyone in Loreto area will be posting an update on this area, as I sure would hate to have a flat tire going SOUTHBOUND!

O.K., I'll post this again. It is not a landslide.
They have been working there for quite a while. It is part of the general road improvements in that area. They have a bull dozer working on top of the
cliff pushing stuff down and a front loader at the road scooping it up and dumping much of it over the side. Each time they are ready to push a big
load down, they stop traffic both ways until the mess is cleaned up. The pavement has been pretty badly pitted on the Southbound lane so they run the
backed up traffic through in batches one way at a time.
You're right about the sharp rocks. I nearly hit one last week Northbound. Dusty as hell too. I just hold back of I'm following a hot dog.

I was shutting off my sailboat engine at the Redwood City marina in 1989. It always shook the boat like a dog shaking a rat but this time the shaking
went on and on. Then I realized that the whole marina was shaking. It was the 89 earthquake. I tried to convince everyone that my engine set it off.
A man made earthquake?

I was told by local they are getting ready to widen the road. I have been through 3 or 4 times in the last few days and the wait has been almost an
hour if you're unlucky.

This roadwork sure slowed us down as we were driving north though...I think we sat there for a good 20 minutes while the other side's traffic trickled
thru.
