Marlin at Tortuga
This is shaping up to be an unbelievable year in the Santa Rosalia area. Yellowtail fishing has been off of the charts and continues to be very good
and we have seen the return of Humboldt squid which have been very scarce the last three years. The water is showing signs of an early warm up and
there have been large amounts of sargasso floating in the current lines and the water temps were pushing 70 degrees on the trip back from Tortuga
yesterday, but the real news is that there were two marlin caught at Tortuga this week and one spotted and caught on camera between San Marcos Island
and San Bruno.
This is an almost sure indication that we are headed into an "El Nino" year with higher water temps and everything that goes with that phenomenon,
probably including more tropical storms than normal.

On the way to distant Tortuga....a great fishing spot.
Hah...Many years ago I wished it wasn't so dang far from Coyote Bay. 100 mile round trip and surfing home in huge waves seemed to be the norm.
Great news on the early marlin, Jim, plus the return of the Humboldt squid. The season is looking good! Tight Lines.

Brumar has been open most of the time, and only seasonally closed. For awhile they were hauling squid there from other areas, but when I drove by the
other day, things looked like a full crew.
